My name is Mehmet. I am a student at the University of Mainz/Germany. After trying out philosophy and comparative linguistics, I finally settled for English and German as my subjects.
This site is primarily intended to assist students in acquiring skills that are often required, or at least quite useful, without — at least in my experience — ever being taught. These are not necessarily hard or complicated, but many students never learn them because they don't have the time to look for instructions ("who has the time to find and read the manual for a copier?") or because they simply don't know about them (paragraph styles? what's that? I've never needed them!).
In the blog section, however, I will also write about other stuff, which may or may not interest you.
Back when I reserved the domain name, it was intended for a personal blog, so the name made some sense at the time...
No, only the pages in the articles section will be bilingual. Generally, I write them in English first and translate them to German when I have the time. The German translation is accessible through the language selector in the left sidebar or the language name at the bottom of the article.
In the blog, I will write in whatever language I deem appropriate. For instance, if I review a German textbook, there's not much of a point in doing it in English. So if there's something that you don't understand, it probably doesn't concern you anyway (or your English needs brushing up — or mine does).
